Finite frames and optimal subspace packings
Abstract:
John Benedetto is a fantastic advisor, with a knack for posing
problems that a student can build a career on. For me in particular,
John's questions led to a lifelong exploration of finite frames and
their connections to optimal packings in Grassmannians, including
equiangular tight frames. I'll present an overview of these
connections, with an emphasis on historical developments, the current
state-of-the-art, and important open problems.
