Title:

Frames for Psychoacoustics - Erblet transform and perceptive sparsity

Abstract:

In this talk we present some ideas how frame theory and time-frequency analysis can be integrated with ideas from psychoacoustics. In particular we present an auditory-motivated time-frequency filter bank with perfect reconstruction, the ERBlet transform. Furthermore we will show how knowledge about the psychoacoustic masking effect can be used to remove time-frequency atoms, without any audible difference. In this way a more sparse representation can be found with the same perceptive quality.
