Title:

Radar Ambiguity, Golays, and the Weyl-Heisenberg Group

Abstract:

The Radar Ambiguity Function of Woodward describes the distortion of a range-Doppler scene when viewed using a given waveform. I will survey the theory of the ambiguity function from the group representation theory viewpoint, emphasising the power that the Stone-von Neumann Theorem provides in re-expressing it in different ways. Some aspects of the discrete theory will be discussed, including how both CAZACS and Golays have natural expressions in these terms.
