The Structure of Sidelobe-Preserving Operator Groups


The operators that preserve sidelobe level in binary and polyphase codes are well known. These operators generate finite groups under composition. This talk examines the structure of these groups and provide evidence that orbit degeneracy relates to code structures yielding low sidelobe level. It will begin with the binary case, proceed to the quad-phase case, and finish with the case of codes whose elements are mth roots of unity.
